About this site
Auckland Dentists explains what dental treatment involves, what Auckland practices charge for it, and which routes are free or subsidised.

Is Auckland Dentists a dental practice?
No. We hold no registration with the Dental Council of New Zealand, we employ no dental practitioner, we have no clinic and we give no clinical advice. We do not treat anyone and we cannot book you an appointment.
Under the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003, only a person registered with the Dental Council and holding a current annual practising certificate may practise dentistry or hold themselves out as able to. That register is public and free to search, and it is worth searching for anyone who is going to treat you.
Where do the prices on this site come from?
Every price is taken from a published source and shown with the date we read it. Treatment fees come from the NZ Dental Association’s 2025 Fees and Dental Workforce Survey, using its Auckland regional table: we show the median and the range charged by the middle half of practices, exactly as published, with the national median beside it. Low-cost clinic prices come from AUT’s own costs page and Health NZ’s Healthpoint listing.
Where no source covers a treatment, such as orthodontics, we say so and publish no figure. We re-read the sources when they change and update the dates on each page.
Why does this site not rank clinics?
We do not rank clinics or name a “best” dentist. The available proxies, mainly Google review counts, mostly measure marketing effort rather than the quality of clinical care or the fairness of a price.
How does this site make money?
It does not, currently. There is no advertising, nothing is sold, and no clinic pays us for a mention or a placement. If that changes, it will be disclosed on the page where you would act on it, naming the clinic and the arrangement, before you act rather than afterwards. We will not take a fee from a clinic and present it as a neutral recommendation.
How do I report something that is wrong?
Tell us and we will correct it. Entitlements in this area change, and the administering bodies (Health New Zealand, Work and Income, ACC and the Dental Council) are the authority on what applies today. Every page links to them for that reason.
